Two decades of Suzannah London, and one dress that has been with us every step of the way.
The tea dress is more than our signature. It is the very essence of the atelier: romantic, timeless and quietly confident, with a nod to the 1930s and an eye firmly on the present.
For twenty years it has twirled through christenings, weddings, long summer parties and some of the most unforgettable moments of our clients’ lives. Each one is cut on the bias to flatter, crafted in pure Italian silk crepe de chine and finished by hand in our London atelier, with prints painted exclusively for the house.
To celebrate this milestone, we’re unveiling a limited edition collection of anniversary tea dresses, made in small numbers and never to be repeated. A tribute to the dress that made us who we are, and a chance to own a true piece of Suzannah London history. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
CREATE A CUSTOM TEA DRESS
Designed around you, our Bespoke tea dresses begin with an iconic Suzannah silhouette, commissioned in your choice of colour, print or cloth and made to your measurements.
Each piece carries the hallmarks of the house: a flattering cut, considered detail and a finish that feels both modern and timeless.
LADIES IN SUZANNAH
Over the years, the Suzannah London tea dress has found its way into some of the most celebrated wardrobes in Britain. It has been chosen for royal engagements at home and abroad, treasured family portraits and long summer days at Wimbledon, and worn by women who could wear anything but return to it time and again. Proof, if ever it were needed, that a beautifully made tea dress never goes out of style.
New designs will be unveiled each month. Sign up to be the first to know when each release goes live.
TEA DRESS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The best starting point is a private consultation at our Marylebone boutique, where you can try on styles in person and talk through fabric, colour and silhouette with our team. If you're not UK-based, we offer the same consultation over video call, so location isn't a barrier to getting the same level of guidance.
Yes. Made To Order pieces are cut to your individual measurements rather than a standard size chart, and we can accommodate up to a UK Size 22 (US Size 18). Because every commission is fitted to you specifically, adjustments like a raised waistline, added structure, or a longer sleeve are built in from the outset rather than fought for in alterations afterwards.
Yes. Our Marylebone boutique holds our entire range of Ready To Wear pieces, as well as all of our Couture styles, including archive pieces, in a UK Size 8, available to try during a private consultation. It's the easiest way to get a feel for fabric, cut and finish before committing to your own version. Book your consultation here.
Yes, this is really the point of Made To Order. Every piece can be tailored to you, whether that's the neckline, the sleeves or the length, and changes are drawn from across our existing archive of silhouettes: the line of one skirt, the drape of another gown, the cut of a particular top. From there we bring in your choice of colour and fabric to build something that's entirely your own rather than an off-the-shelf style with minor tweaks.
Made To Order pieces typically take around eight weeks from your first consultation, which allows time for the fittings that get the fit exactly right. We're not a traditional bridal house, so our lead times are considerably shorter than a conventional bridal gown, while still giving our demi-couture styles the fitting process a wedding day genuinely deserves.
