Suzannah London x Rob Ryan Collaboration

Suzannah London is excited to announce the collaboration with highly acclaimed artist Rob Ryan to create a beautiful limited-edition two-piece collection entitled ‘I Can’t Forget’. The collection features a classic sustainable shirtdress, a piece synonymous with Suzannah, and an Italian silk scarf which has been finished with a traditional hand sewn rolled edge. Both styles have been printed with Ryan's signature artwork to create unique pieces to treasure for a lifetime.

Suzannah has always been a fan of Ryan's delicate cut work pieces, shes says "I simply love Rob’s work and have various pieces of his in my home...They always make me smile as they are so carefree and fun yet intricate." Suzannah was certain that Rob's artwork would work perfectly with her designs and approached him with the idea of a collaboration "I knew his artwork would look amazing on my clothes...This collaboration has a folkloric feel to it and is full of optimism, lightheartedness and escapism.”
Rob Ryan added “I immediately fell in love with the classical shape and cut of Suzannah’s dresses, and of course the brilliant use of print. I knew this was someone who would appreciate my work and know how to use my design well. The best collaborations are when you realise that somebody instinctively understands the nature of your work, that they ‘get it' and you are happy to leave them to apply it as they think best, which is exactly what it felt like working with Suzannah.”

The beautiful cut work print is printed with Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) certified inks on organic GOTS certified cotton. This method is the most environmentally friendly method of printing.

Suzannah has applied Rob Ryan's iconic artwork to a classic shirtdress silhouette. Covered buttons, scalloped edges and a delicate waist belt elevate the look.

| The artwork, ‘I Can’t Forget’ symbolises freedom and wildness. Ryan explains that the design evokes the feeling one gets when climbing a tree, the dizzy excitement of ascending so high and seeing the world from above with an entirely different perspective… whilst also experiencing the potential danger of slipping and falling, which adds to the excitement and heightens the senses. Simultaneously the two characters are trying to keep balanced and share a kiss hanging upside down in a tree. |

Rob Ryan studied Fine Art at Trent Polytechnic and at the Royal College of Art, London where he specialised in Printmaking. Since 2002 he has been working principally within the paper cutting medium and has collaborated with institutions from the Victoria & Albert Museum, Fortnum & Mason, UK Vogue and Paul Smith.
He has written and illustrated several books including ’This Is For You' and 'A Sky Full Of Kindness' and also the Kingdom Trilogy. Rob’s Monograph, the first book of his collected artwork, entitled ’I Thought About It In My Head And I Felt It In My Heart But I Made It With My Hands’ was published with Rizzoli in 2018.
He has regularly exhibited in the UK and overseas, and in many diverse locations, such as Grand Central Station in New York, the William Morris Gallery in London and The Yorkshire Sculpture Park. He lives and works in London UK ”
